Chairman
Nobuhiro Endo
The industry welcomes the news of the conclusion of the WTO ITA expansion negotiations held in Nairobi, Kenya announced on December 16th.
This agreement based on common global rules will promote the free trade of innovative ICT products and make a significant contribution to world economic growth. We express our deep appreciation to all governments involved in the negotiations and recognize the persistence of the Japanese government in leading the talks to its conclusion.
The agreed to terms takes into consideration technological advances and other potential changes in the market and thus includes a regular review of the scope of products and a mechanism for adding products. The free trade of innovative ICT products will be an engine for the industry to continue expanding exports from Japan and contributing to economic growth of our trade partners.
We strongly look forward to the participating parties of the Agreement keeping to the agreed schedule of eliminating tariffs.
